Vasectomy Reversal

VASECTOMY REVERSAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

WHY HAVE A VASECTOMY REVERSAL… HAVE YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGED?

Vasectomy ReversalSometimes, no matter how much thought goes into having a vasectomy, something in your life changes and makes you decide to have a vasectomy reversal.
7% of men in the United States have their vasectomies reversed each year. Common causes include divorce followed by a new relationship and a desire to have children, the tragic loss of a child, or simply changing your mind years after a vasectomy is done. No matter what your reasons, schedule a consultation with Dr. Pugach to discuss your vasectomy reversal procedure.

HOW IS A VASECTOMY REVERSAL PERFORMED?

Simply speaking, a vasectomy reversal means sewing the cut ends of each vas deferens back together again.  But there is nothing “simple” about it.  At Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center, Dr. Robert Pugach uses advanced microsurgical techniques and equipment to bring the cut ends into exact alignment.

Most men are not aware that the opening in each tube is approximately 1 millimeter in diameter.  The stitches used are 1/6 the diameter of a human hair. They are virtually invisible to the naked eye are placed into the cut ends of each vas deferens to bring them together.

While a No Needle No Scalpel Vasectomy in-office procedure takes about 15 minutes to perform; a vasectomy reversal can take up to 4 hours to perform.  It is an extremely delicate procedure requiring great surgical precision.  Dr. Pugach has received specialized training in microsurgery so that he can perform vasectomy reversals and achieve the results you are looking for. WHERE IS A VASECTOMY REVERSAL PERFORMED?

A vasectomy reversal procedure must be done in a hospital or outpatient surgical center so that proper sterile conditions are present throughout the operation.  A general anesthetic is used so that you will remain perfectly still during the operation.  You can go home several hours after the procedure is completed.  It is important to rest and take it easy at home for two weeks after surgery, with significant activity restrictions.

WHAT RESULTS CAN YOU EXPECT FROM A VASECTOMY REVERSAL?

Testimonial After six months had passed, Troy and Jessica returned to Dr. Pugach for a follow-up semen analysis and were thrilled to be given the good news that Troy’s sperm count was good.  The couple didn’t have to wait long as Jessica’s pregnancy test was positive. Their miracle baby, Jillian, was born January 4, 2011.  “Bringing Jillian home to meet her four siblings, aged 18 to 10 years, was the best New Year’s gift we could ask for,” says Jessica.

Dr. Robert Pugach advises his vasectomy reversal patients that results are best when a vasectomy reversal is performed within 5 years of the original surgery.  In fact, there can be very good results even if the vasectomy is reversed within 10 years or after.  Successful results decrease with time but there can be successful outcomes 15 or even 20 years later. The longest successful vasectomy reversal performed by Dr. Pugach was 26 years after the patient’s vasectomy. See vasectomy reversal guarantee below.

WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF PACIFIC COAST UROLOGY’S VASECTOMY REVERSAL GUARANTEE?

Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center guarantees that, within 6 months of your vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy) procedure, there will be sperm in your ejaculate. Because the results of a vasectomy reversal procedure depend, in large part, on the amount of time between your original vasectomy and the reversal, our refund guarantee is made accordingly:

  • 100% refund if your reversal is performed within 4 years from the date of your original vasectomy procedure.*
  • 50% refund if your reversal is performed 4 to 6 years from the date of your original vasectomy procedure.*
  • 25% refund if your reversal is performed 6 to 8 years from your original vasectomy procedure.*
  • 0% refund after 8 years

*Your original vasectomy procedure must have been without complications.  A copy of the operative report will be required to document this.  In addition, if a large segment of your vas deferens was removed during the original procedure, thus making a reversal more complicated, the guarantee does not apply.  If a copy of your operative report is not available the guarantee does not apply.

A semen analysis is necessary for this guarantee and the services of an independent laboratory must be used for an unbiased, objective result. Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center may designate which laboratory shall be used and will pay the laboratory fee. You may choose a laboratory that we mutually agree upon and you (the patient) and Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center will share the fees equally.

Neither the number of sperm, their movement or shape are part of this guarantee. The presence of sperm in your ejaculate, as determined by an independent laboratory facility, constitutes a successful procedure.

Payment will be sent to you within 30 days of a final determination of the absence of sperm in your ejaculate.

You will find our guarantee to be unique.  When choosing your urological surgeon for a vasectomy reversal procedure, ask yourself who would you choose – a doctor who guarantees your result or someone who does not?
