Robert Pugach, MD Honored with an Award Presented by the Prostate Forum of Orange County

On June 27, 2019, the Board of the Prostate Forum of Orange County during their Honors Program recognized and presented Dr. Robert Pugach with a plaque for his long-time support and contributions to the organization.

On the same day, Dr. Pugach, presented a lecture to the Prostate Forum of Orange County, an Affiliate of US Too, on “The Evolution of Minimally Invasive Prostate Cancer Treatment: Advanced High Intensity Focused Ultrasound.”

Evans Tran, PA-C Participated in 5K Fundraiser at the AUGS/IUGAMore research is needed to fund advances for Pelvic Floor Medicine. Evans Tran, PA-C participated in a 5K to help both the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) and American Urogynecological Society (AUGS) fundraiser for ongoing Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Research. The fundraising race was held during the AUGS/IUGA conference from 9/22 to 9/26, 2019 in Nashville, TN. “The conference is a great opportunity to stay up to date with pelvic floor medicine. There are so many innovative technologies that I am very excited to have learned about. I kept my sole focus on lectures for overactive bladder, stress incontinence, recurrent UTIs and various other bladder problems but also had a great interest in so many other topics that were presented,” says Evans

Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk 2019Evans Tran, PA represented Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center and Western States HIFU in the annual Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach, CA.

“ZERO Prostate Cancer did it again! It was great honoring the men affected by prostate cancer and to stand by and show them that they are well supported.,” says Evans Tran, PA , Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center.

Zero Prostate Cancer Run/WalkDate: Saturday, June 22, 2019 Location: Shoreline Aquatic Park (behind Aquarium of the Pacific) 200 Aquarium Way Long Beach, CA 90802.

The funds raised from 2019 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – Greater Los Angeles Area are invested around the country to provide research for new treatments, free prostate cancer testing, and educate men and families about prostate cancer. No other prostate cancer charity spends more per dollar on programs – more than 85 cents. ZERO puts every donation to good use.

Evans Tran, PA at Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center presented information on The Urolift® System a proven minimally invasive treatment for BPH at Flemings Prime  Steakhouse in El Segundo, CA .  In attendance at the dinner presentation were 14 advanced practice providers.  The mix of Physician Assistants (PA), Nurse Practitioners (NP),  pre-med students and office managers learned from Evans how midlevel providers can play a large role in educating patients on alternative treatment options for BPH.  The attendees were interested in learning more about The Urolift® System and how it is an effective alternative to medication and surgery to treat BPH.

More than 220,000 men and their families will face a prostate cancer diagnosis this year.  My staff and I are honored to join the Zero Prostate Cancer organization in fundraising, running, and walking to raise money for prostate cancer education and services in local communities.

For more than 30 years I have been fighting to improve the quality of life for prostate cancer patients by focusing my medical practice on the early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of this terrible disease.

The hope is that one day we will achieve Generation ZERO – the first generation free from prostate cancer.

As Medical Director of Western States HIFU and Pacific Coast Urology, I thank everyone who joined our team and made contributions to the Zero Prostate Cancer Run Walk on Sunday, July 16th!

PACIFIC COAST UROLOGY 2016 MILESTONES

JANUARY– we treated our 16,000th patient! We sponsored Evans Tran, PA to visit the Philippines where she joined a team of American doctors to treat patients from impoverished areas with all types of medical needs. Services included performing surgery, patient teaching – ask her to tell you about it!

FEBRUARYWestern States HIFU is launched as we began treating patients in Los Alamitos.

MARCH – We re-painted and re-carpeted the entire office and Evans Tran, PA & Aurora traveled to FL to attend a 3-day pelvic floor rehabilitation course.

APRIL – We begin offering our new In-Office Advanced Pelvic Floor Therapy for bladder control in both women and men. We’re the first private practice in our area to do so!

MAY – We purchased a new, state-of-the-art bladder scanner.

JUNE – Dr. Pugach attended the 9th Annual Focal Imaging and Therapy Conference for Prostate Cancer at Duke University.

JUNE – We sponsored the 2016 Annual Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Long Beach. Kim manned the booth and Evans, Aurora and Marci participated in the 5k.

AUGUST – Dr. Pugach traveled to London to work with the number 1 focal HIFU physician in the world.

SEPTEMBER – We did our first live Webinar for HIFU and Prostate Cancer. (Log into to view. )

With our HIFU cases increasing monthly, we became the busiest HIFU center in the United States!

OCTOBER – We ordered UroNav, the state-of-the-art software that allows us to perform precise MRI guided fusion prostate biopsies. We will now be the first private practice in the western U.S. to offer UroNav so that prostate biopsies can be performed with a degree of precision never seen before!

NOVEMBER -Dr. Pugach traveled to New Mexico to speak to a 100 member group about the benefits and technology of HIFU. (Read Prostate Cancer Support letter). He also attended the World Congress of Endourology in Capetown, South Africa.

Throughout the Year – We continue to educate students from P.A. schools and area colleges & universities.

It was a beautiful day at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach, CA on Saturday, June 25, 2016! Not just because of the weather and magnificent ocean view but also because of the hundreds of people that attended the Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk to get the word out about prostate cancer treatment, research and prevention.

10th Annual Physician Educational Event & Holiday Party For the 10th year, Dr. Pugach and his staff welcomed physicians to learn firsthand about minimally invasive urologic technologies and enjoy a holiday celebration. Physicians and their staff attended the festive event and learned about advanced procedures to treat prostate cancer, BPH, bladder control, male hormones and other urological conditions.

We look forward to continuing our mission of educating doctors and their staff about our leading edge minimally invasive treatments. It’s a fun way to learn!

On Saturday, March 12, 2016, Dr. Robert Pugach and Robert Colvin of HIFU Prostate Services* welcomed physicians to the Los Alamitos Surgical Center to learn more about High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). The purpose of this educational open house was to educate physicians on how HIFU works and the advantages of the HIFU procedure for prostate cancer. HIFU can cure cancer without the two common, life-altering side effects that radical surgery (robotic or traditional) and radiation can cause.

*HIFU Prostate Services is the nation’s leading provider of minimally-invasive prostate cancer treatment using high intensity focused ultrasound. HPS was founded to provide men access to a less invasive treatment option for prostate cancer that has the ability to eliminate cancer and preserve patient quality of life

American Urological AssociationDr. Pugach Co-author of paper presented at AUA 2015 Annual Meeting 
“Healthcare Costs for Office Based Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Therapies”

The American Urological Association’s podium presentation titled “Healthcare Costs for Office Based Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Therapies” was presented by Craig Smith, MD, FAAP, FACS, DuPage Medical Group and co-authored by Robert G. Pugach MD, Medical Director, Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center. The presentation compared the costs of HE-TUMT, TUNA and PUL to both providers and patients.

Dr. Pugach spent one week in in Beijing and ShanghaiDr. Pugach spent one week in in Beijing and Shanghai with Chinese physicians and nurses providing instruction and hands-on training in thermotherapy using the new CoolWave system.

Dr. Pugach’s training was coordinated by Urologix and CunLling Gao, Beijing Lifecare Technology Company.
