Minimally Invasive Treatment for BPH (An Enlarged Prostate)
One of the newest treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the the UroLift® System. UroLift is a minimally invasive device designed to treat lower urinary tract symptoms due to BPH.
The UroLift® System includes a delivery device and the UroLift® permanent implant. The UroLift System is FDA approved. It uses small plastic pieces to open up the prostate and is indicated for the treatment of BPH symptoms in men 50 years of age or older.
How does the UroLift® System Work?
The UroLift® System relieves prostate obstruction and opens the urethra directly by retracting the obstructing prostatic lobes. Small permanent UroLift® Implants are used to hold the lobes in the retracted position, thereby opening the urethra while leaving the prostate intact.
What are the Benefits of the UroLift® System?
For men who are considered good candidates for Urolift®, success rates are around 90%. The UroLift® System treatment has consistently demonstrated an excellent safety and benefit profile as there is:
- NO cutting of prostate tissue
- NO heating of prostate tissue
- NO removal of prostate tissue
