Update on Evans Tran, PA 3rd Annual Medical Mission in the Philippines

 Santa Barbara, Iloilo 4,496 patients served in 5 days!

3rd annual Medical Mission

 Evans Tran, PA at Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center,  returned from Santa Barbara, Iloilo in the Philippines after completing her 3rd annual medical mission with the Philippine Medical Society of Northern California* missionary group.  This dedicated and diverse group of medical personnel provided primary medical care and surgical services to 4,496 patients in the span of 5 days.

The medical mission group consisted of nurses, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, optometrists, ophthalmologists, urologist, general surgeons, residents, dentists, physician assistant (PA), nurse practitioner (NP), and many others.

Ms. Tran, the only physician assistant on the mission, worked in minor surgery, removing sebaceous cysts, small to large size lipomas, tuberculosis granulomas, tuberculosis abscesses and other procedures.

“I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of what I did for the people of this country,” says Ms. Tran.” Even though I felt drained and exhausted at the end of each day the next  day felt much more gratifying than the last and I am looking forward to next year’s mission.”

In 2016, as part of the Northern California Medical Missionary, Ms. Tran helped to provide medical and surgical services to over 9,000 low income residents of Dumaguete and neighboring towns in the Negros Oriental province.
