ABOUT
DR. ROBERT G. PUGACH
NAMED
AS ONE OF AMERICA'S TOP PHYSICIAN FOR 7 YEARS IN A ROW!
Congratulations to Dr. Robert Pugach!
2012 Message from Dr. Robert Pugach
"The first
2 months are always an interesting time in medical practice. New
Year’s Resolutions take many forms. One of them is for patients to
resolve medical issues that have bothered them for a long time. At
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center (PCUMC), we are always prepared
to help you deal with these but in 2012 we are seeing a new trend –
women are coming in to our offices in record numbers to resolve
their bladder
control problems - more than ever before! Being dry in 2012 and
regaining bladder control is a top priority for our female patients
in 2012.”
Meet Dr. Robert Pugach,
Medical Director of Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center
Dr. Robert Pugach was born in 1952 in
Englewood, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from
New York University in 1974. After completing medical studies at the
College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, he went to New York
University-Booth Memorial Medical Center where he completed general
surgery residency. He then did his urology training at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center in New York,
finishing in 1985.
Dr. Robert Pugach
moved to California, where he became Department Head of Urology for
CIGNA Health plan. In 1988, he opened his private practice in urology.
In 2003, he founded
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center to focus on
new, minimally invasive treatment options for urology patients.
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center
has
convenient Orange County and Los Angeles County offices in
Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, and
Beverly Hills, CA.
In recent years, Dr. Robert Pugach has
focused many of his efforts on
minimally invasive treatment therapies for
treating urologic conditions such as
benign prostate enlargement,
bladder control problems and
prostate cancer. He was instrumental in
bringing microwave thermotherapy to Los Angeles and
Orange counties.
Dr. Robert Pugach has performed more minimally invasive treatment
prostate procedures than any other urologist in California, and he
is actively involved in teaching other physicians about
microwave
thermotherapy and other
minimally invasive treatment techniques. Dr. Pugach is in a group of less than 1% of US urologists
certified to perform
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) for
prostate cancer.
For the 7th year in a row, Dr. Robert Pugach has been
honored to be named as one of America’s Top Physicians by the
Consumer’s Research Council of America. This prestigious award
is based upon training, board certification, customer service and
patient satisfaction. “Only a handful of practices achieve this
recognition in the United States. All of us at Pacific Coast
Urology Medical Center are truly honored,” says Dr. Pugach.

"This is a remarkable achievement because we consider this as
recognition of our commitment to be at the forefront of urology
as the country’s leading minimally invasive urology practice."
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center continue to be one of the
leading practices in the United States in procedures that minimize
discomfort and allow you to achieve the same benefits as with more
invasive procedures. We are being recognized as a leader more and
more and, in fact, Dr. Pugach had the honor of making a
presentation in Orlando where the annual meeting of the American
Urological Association was held.

Why is your practice unique?
"To start with,
we love what we do. Offering services that are effective and cause
minimal pain, discomfort and downtime – the definition of “minimally
invasive” – allows us to treat our patients in ways that are unique
and separates us from other urology practices. We spend
considerably more time with our patients than other urology
practices. Almost twice as much, in fact. The average urologist
has 3.3 staff members in the United States. At Pacific Coast
Urology Medical Center we have 6 full time staff members to
assist patients. This lets us devote more time to our patients.
Also, since
Kim
Pugach joined the practice in July 2010, we have added new
patient service enhancements."
A Message from Dr. Pugach on PCUMC's 11,000th
Patient!
In November
2010, Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center achieved an
amazing milestone – we treated our 11,000th patient.
That’s a remarkable number for what is known in the medical
community as a “solo” practice, one where there is a single
physician caring for all patients. What’s gratifying is that
the number of new patients who seek our services increases year
after year. In our early days, we’d see 5 or 6 new patients each
week. Now, we see between 20 and 30 new patients every week! Our
growth is due, in large part, to patient referrals. Many of our
current patients tell friends and family members about our
remarkable, advanced, minimally invasive patient care services.
That’s so helpful because many people don’t know about the wide
range of services that we provide. In addition, our reputation as a
leader in minimally invasive urology services in the United States
brings us patients from many parts of our country and throughout the
world. We are honored to see so many new patients and strive to
provide the excellent level of service which all of our patients
have come to expect.
Robert Pugach,
MD, Medical Director
