Has Your Life
Changed?
Sometimes, no matter how much thought
goes into having a vasectomy, something in your life changes and
makes you decide to have a
vasectomy reversal. Common causes
include divorce followed by a new relationship and a desire to have
children, the tragic loss of a child, or simply changing your mind
years after a vasectomy is done.
Simply speaking, a
vasectomy reversal means sewing the cut ends of each
vas deferens back
together again. But there is nothing “simple” about it.
At Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center we use microsurgical
techniques to bring the cut ends into exact alignment. The
opening in each tube is approximately 1 millimeter in diameter.
Stitches which are virtually invisible to the naked eye are placed
all around the cut ends to bring and hold them together.
A routine vasectomy operation takes about 15 minutes to perform; a
vasectomy reversal can takes 2 hours or more. It is an extremely delicate
procedure requiring great surgical precision.
Dr. Pugach has
received specialized training in microsurgery so that he can
perform vasectomy reversals.
A
vasectomy procedure is done in a
hospital or outpatient surgical center. A
general anesthetic is
used so that you will remain perfectly still during the
operation. You can go home several hours after the procedure is
completed. It is important to rest and take it easy at home for
one week after surgery, with significant activity restriction for
the first 72 hours.
The results are best when a
vasectomy reversal is performed within 5 years of the original
surgery. In fact, there can be very good results even if the
vasectomy is reversed within 10 years. Once the time goes beyond
that, overall results decrease although there can be successful
outcomes 15 or even 20 years later.

Vasectomy Reversal Cost at

Our all
inclusive price for a vasectomy reversal is $9,150.00*
(Effective 9/26/2011)
This price includes:
● Your
initial consultation with Dr. Robert Pugach
is $150, which is applied to your procedure cost. The balance of
$9,000 is due 7 days prior to your surgery.
● Surgical facility charges
● Anesthesiologist
fees
● All
routine follow-up care for 3 months
● In-office
semen examinations by Dr. Pugach for 3 months
*Fee does not include
pre-operative testing, including labs, EKG and medical clearance.
If a more
complicated procedure – a vasoepididymostomy
(connecting the vas deferens to the
epididymis) – is required there is an additional fee of
$1200.00. The need for this can only be
determined at the time of your operative procedure. The odds of
needing a vaso-epididymostomy increase as the time after your
original vasectomy increases. If a vaso-epididymostomy is performed
our guarantee does not apply.
Our Simple Vasovasostomy
Guarantee*
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center
guarantees that, within 6 months of your vasovasostomy procedure,
there will be sperm in your ejaculate. If sperm are not present,
you will receive a refund of all fees paid for your vasovasostomy
procedure (please see next section for more details).
Because the
results of a vasectomy reversal procedure depend, in large part, on
the amount of time between your original vasectomy and the reversal,
our refund guarantee is made accordingly:
-
100% refund if
your reversal is performed within 4 years from the date of your
original procedure.
-
50% refund if your
reversal is performed 4 to 7 years from the date of your
original procedure.
-
25% refund if your
reversal is performed 7 to 9 years from your original
procedure.
Payment will be
sent to you within 30 days of a final determination of the
presence or absence of sperm in your ejaculate.
A semen analysis
is necessary for this guarantee and the services of an independent
laboratory must be used for an unbiased, objective result.
Pacific Coast Urology Medical Center uses the services of
Memorial Healthtech Laboratories and we will pay for the testing.
If you want to use another laboratory, it must be one that we
mutually agree upon and you (the patient) and Pacific Coast
Urology Medical Center will share the fees equally.
*Your original
vasectomy procedure must have been without complications. A copy of
the operative report will be required to document this. In
addition, if a large segment of your vas deferens was removed during
the original procedure, thus making a reversal more complicated, the
guarantee does not apply. If a copy of your operative report
is not available the guarantee does not apply.
We do require
proof of the date of your original vasectomy procedure. Neither the
number of sperm, their movement or shape are part of this
guarantee. The presence of sperm in your ejaculate, as determined
by an independent laboratory facility, constitutes a successful
procedure.
You will find our guarantee to be unique. When choosing your
doctor for a vasectomy reversal procedure, ask yourself who would
you choose – a doctor who guarantees your result or someone who does
not?
