2010 PRACTICE MILESTONES
 

We are honored, once again, to be recognized as the leader in innovative, minimally invasive urological services by our referring physicians and patients.  We are pleased to share many highlights of our accomplishments this year:

• We received the “America’s Top Physician” award for the 7^th year in a row! 
• Dr. Pugach was featured on KCAL TV in a special documentary that featured the remarkable No Needle/No Scalpel Vasectomy procedure.
• We continued our leadership role as the largest provider of cryoablation services for prostate cancer in southern California.
• Our annual retreat at The Grand in Long Beach focused on our commitment to improving communication skills and finding ways to excel in customer service.
• Kim Pugach joined the practice to increase our educational efforts and outreach to patients and physicians.
• Dr. Pugach and Kim travelled to the world headquarters of Medtronic in Minneapolis, where they met with specialists to discuss patient education.   Dr. Pugach met with Medtronic engineers to discuss new concepts and technologies to improve the Interstim procedure and technology for patients.
• In recognition of the growing reputation of PCUMC, patients continued to travel far distances to receive treatment at PCUMC including Indonesia, Hawaii, Washington State, Arizona, northern California and Chicago.
• We introduced online registration forms for the convenience of our patients.
• We were chosen as one of 20 practices nationwide to pioneer a national educational event for women’s bladder health called “Girls’ Time Out.”
• In November we treated our 11,000^th patient!
• Dr. Pugach was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the College of Allied Health Professions in recognition of his participation as a preceptor for the Physician Assistants Program.

In addition to his urology practice, Dr. Pugach is active in many medical executive capacities, serving on numerous committees for the California Medical Association, the American Medical Association and community hospitals.

Dr. Pugach is an active member of the following professional associations:

• American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU).
• The Society of Laparoendosopic Surgeon
• Dr. Pugach was awarded his Certification for Continuing Medical Education by the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ), a subsidiary of the California Medical Association.
• American Medical Association

Dr. Pugach also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospital of Long Beach (www.chlb.org) and led the effort to re-open this valuable neighborhood hospital.
