PACIFIC
COAST UROLOGY MEDICAL CENTER
PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
2009 was a remarkable, eventful and exciting year of growth
and new innovations for us! Some of our more memorable
accomplishments this year:
-
We received the “America’s Top Physician” award for the
6th year in a row! This prestigious
recognition is given by the Consumer’s Research Council of
America for practice achievements, customer service and
training.
-
We added a new treatment center for our HIFU patients –
Nassau, Bahamas. Dr. Pugach was trained in TCM–Tissue
Change Monitoring–the most advanced software for precise
treatments during HIFU for prostate cancer.
-
Dr. Pugach was certified as a proctor for HIFU International and
is now one of only 3 urologists in North America
certified to train other physicians to perform
HIFU.
-
We were selected as one of only a few sites for Phase III
testing of a new treatment for BPH.We introduced
Renessa, an
in-office treatment for stress incontinence that can replace
more invasive surgical procedures with a 20 minute office
treatment.
-
This year, we again performed more
cryoablation
procedures for prostate cancer than any other practice in
the western United States.
-
We
officially opened our Bladder Control Center for women –
it’s unique and focused totally on women’s health.
-
We
pursued advanced training for Dr. Pugach and our staff. Some
examples:
o
Dr. Pugach was elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of
Healthcare Quality for the American Board of Quality Assurance
and Utilization Review and was honored as an educator with a
lifetime membership in the Harvard Men’s Health Forum.
o
Gladys and Espi attended a course in advanced programming in
Interstim neuromodulation; Gladys travelled to Mexico to
assist patients undergoing the HIFU procedure; Debbie trained in an
advanced billing course; and, Espi received her certification in
urodynamic testing.
-
We treated patients who
travelled far distances– Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Kansas
and Northern CA– in recognition of the growing reputation of
PCUMC. And we were featured on KTLA NEWS for our
No Needle/No Scalpel Vasectomy procedure and interviewed on
The Doctors TV show about HIFU!
-
We established “Man To
Man,” a Prostate Cancer Support Group, in conjunction
with the American Center Society and Community Hospital of Long
Beach. The Support Group is up to all men – those with prostate
cancer or who are concerned about it.
2008...A Year in Review
-
We treated a record number of patients in 2008 as more and
more people have sought our minimally invasive urological services.
We have
been honored to treat patients not just in California, but from many
other states in the US. We’ve also continued to see many patients
from other countries.
-
2008 was another year of growth as we
added new, minimally invasive services, expanded our non-invasive
services for prostate cancer (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound-HIFU) and
added our new office in Beverly Hills, CA. We opened that office
because of increasing requests to have a location to treat patients
in the Los Angeles and Valley areas.
The most important events for 2008
were the same ones in every previous year – caring for the many
thousands of patients who look to us for urological care. We
appreciate your confidence in us and look forward to continuing to
provide the finest minimally invasive services for
BPH (Benign Prostate
Growth), prostate cancer,
bladder control and
incontinence in women, no
scalpel/no needle
vasectomies,
vasectomy reversals and laser surgery.
2009 promises to be an exciting year.
We’re all looking forward to our annual retreat with a continued
focus on improving our levels of customer service. While we strive
hard every day to provide the best in patient care, we constantly
try to add new services and service levels that enhance your
experience when you visit us at Pacific Coast Urology Medical
Center.
Happy New Year!
