Women’s Bladder Control

Bladder Control

Bladder control problems affect 50 million Americans and are one of the most common health problems that women face. While many think that the condition only affects older women, the truth is that women of all ages may have urine leakage (incontinence) or other bladder control issues. Estimates are that 25% to 45% of women suffer from urinary incontinence. Twenty million women have to deal with overactive bladder symptoms on a daily basis.

Many women are so embarrassed about their bladder control condition they elect not to discuss the problem with their healthcare professional and, therefore, aren’t aware that there are many solutions. That causes many to start wearing messy, expensive pads and adult diapers and limit normal daily activities to avoid urinary leakage and embarrassment.

That’s why we started the Women’s Bladder Control Center of Excellence. From the day we opened in 2007 we started seeing patients in record numbers. We realized that we were establishing ourselves to fill an unmet healthcare need. Many years later, we continue to see many new patients every week to help diagnose and treat this remarkably common, embarrassing condition.

Now, we’ve added a new dimension to our bladder control program. Realizing that many women are not comfortable discussing urinary problems with a man (Dr. Pugach), and would prefer to be examined by a woman, we are pleased to tell you that Evans Tran, our highly skilled and credentialed female physician assistant, has made bladder control for women her special interest. Rest assured that she and Dr. Pugach discuss every case together and, together, they will explain diagnostic and treatment options fully with you. You always have a choice – you can see Evans Tran, PA or Dr. Pugach, depending upon your preference.

Evans Tran, PA-C at the AUGS/IUGA Conference in NashvilleEvans Tran, PA-C spent a week at the AUGS/IUGA Conference in Nashville from 9/22 to 9/26/2019. “The conference is a great opportunity to stay up to date with pelvic floor medicine. There are so many innovative technologies that I am very excited to have learned about. I kept my sole focus on lectures for overactive bladder, stress incontinence, recurrent UTIs and various other bladder problems but also had a great interest in so many other topics that were presented,” says Evans.
